A Cozy Stowe Getaway with Incredible Views
Edson Hill - a peaceful nature escape set on a 38-acre estate with beautiful mountain views, just minutes from everything Stowe has to offer.
Stowe, Vermont
If you're dreaming of a cozy Vermont getaway in Stowe, Edson Hill should be at the top of your list! Tucked into the hillside just outside Stowe Village, this historic estate began as farmland settled by Freedom Edson in the late 1700s. It later became a private manor known as Petunia Place, and was then reimagined in 2014 when it was transformed into the luxury boutique inn it is today.
Edson Hill is located:
Just minutes from the center of Stowe Village where you’ll find shops and restaurants
~15 minutes from Stowe Mountain Resort
~20 minutes to Smuggler’s Notch
~1 hour from Burlington, VT
Just a short drive from hiking trails, breweries, waterfalls, and more!

The Grounds
From the moment you arrive, Edson Hill feels like a private retreat tucked away from it all. I was even greeted by the beautiful resident horses on my drive in.
You’ll check-in at the Manor House which is home to the inn's dining room and tavern, a beautiful outdoor patio space for seasonal outdoor dining, as well as seven guest rooms.
The property offers incredible views that look out across the pool, pond, and out to the mountains. You’ll find lots of spots around the property to relax and enjoy the scenery.
And you’ll even find a network of trails right on the property—open for hiking the summer and fall and transformed into cross-country skiing trails in the winter.
Did I mention the views though?
The Common Areas
The main Manor House also features a cozy common area for lounging by the fire, playing a game, or relaxing with a good book.
The Pool and Pond
And you really don't want to miss the pool. This is easily one of the most relaxing spots on the property. I loved lounging on the comfy chairs and reading a book by the water.
There is also a beautiful spring-fed swimming pond located just past the pool.
The Guest Rooms
There are 22 unique guest rooms at Edson Hill, each featuring cozy touches like soaking tubs and wood-burning fireplaces—perfect for a late summer, fall, or winter getaway.
Guests can choose between rooms in the Manor House or one of the guest house cottages scattered across the grounds. The guest houses feel extra private, each with its own separate exterior entrance, while also being conveniently located just a quick walk away from the Manor House.
My Room: Show Love
I stayed in the Show Love room, located in the Maple Guest House. The house is tucked right up against the woods, and it almost felt like being in a private cabin, with views of the trees from every window. The Maple Guest House features a covered porch with rocking chairs, perfect for relaxing before dinner.
The Show Love room features:
A king bed with a soft comforter
A wood-burning fireplace, perfect for cooler evenings and extra cozy vibes
A large soaking tub
Heated radiant bathroom floors
Lots of cozy details, like the beautiful antique sled hanging on the wall above the bed
Guests also get plush robes to use during their stay, as well as bath amenities — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and bath salts.
Dinner at the On-Site Restaurant
A stay at Edson Hill calls for dinner right on property. In the summer months, dinner is served on the patio overlooking the grounds. The menu features fresh seasonal ingredients and each dish is beautifully prepared and presented.
What I ordered:
Sesame Focaccia with whipped ricotta, roasted tomatoes, and fresh oregano
Summer Lettuce Salad with green beans, shell beans, shaved radish, and robiolina vinaigrette
Fish taco special
Chocolate Torte with roasted strawberry, caramelized milk, and sea salt
Dinner is open to guests of the inn and the public Tuesday–Sunday, beginning at 5 pm. Dinner reservations are highly recommended, as tables often book up in advance.
The Fireside Tavern
On the bottom floor of the Manor House, you’ll find the cozy Fireside Tavern. It’s the perfect spot to end the day with a craft cocktail, mocktail, or local craft beer. Enjoy your beverage in one of the comfy indoor seats, or step outside and sip your drink by the fire on the patio while taking in the evening mountain views.
The Fireside Tavern is open to both overnight guests and the public.
Breakfast
Breakfast is exclusively available to overnight guests and is served daily from 8–10 AM. I tried the lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote as well as the spring asparagus frittata. I loved starting the morning with a delicious breakfast and a beautiful view.
A huge THANK YOU to Edson Hill for such a memorable stay!
I loved my time here and can easily say that this is my new favorite place to stay in Stowe!
